Are Base PS4 Owners Getting Screwed Over Already?

Sony’s flashy new PS4 Pro is a great piece of hardware, especially for the price.

Yet despite some worry and speculation about it replacing base models, we were promised that PS4 games will still run fine on the base model. The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV have proven otherwise.

PS4 Pro Impression From a PC Gamer

I was one of the lucky who managed to get a PS4 Pro early and seeing as how the system is coming out today I thought of sharing my thoughts. As someone who games mainly on PC I hope the video below would provide some perspective.

Dead Rising 1 is The Ocarina of Time of Zombie Games

Similar to Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Dead Rising 1 has managed to somehow age gracefully after all these years. This was pretty much THE game that introduced me to the HD generation (I eventually got an HD TV just to play this) and showed me waves of zombies on screen I never knew would be possible. Sure the controls feel clanky and old with certain archaic mechanics but so did OoT.

10 years later it still holds a special place in my heart. It’s one of those games that keep a perfect balance between great and memorable level design and campy dialogue. It also reminded me of the good old days of Capcom where things like DLC, Microtransactions, and the like were non-existent.This is how games used to be made, not to imitated but to innovate.

IGN vs Sonic and Why it Happened

So over the week IGN have dropped the ball on what is essentially the biggest middle finger the sonic community ever received from a major news outlet.

So I thought it would be interesting to sort of dissect exactly what went wrong here. Now for the record Sonic games haven’t always gotten bad rep from IGN. I mean a lot of Sonic games including Generations and Colors received 8.5 to 9. Heck even Sonic Pocket Adventure received a 10 rating which is kinda funny. The point is IGN has proven that they don’t hate sonic. So what exactly went wrong?

Kingsglaive Comic Con Trailer Has Flashy Fights. Tentacles.

New Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV trailer gets it right.

For one it does a great job of putting the whole universe of Final Fantasy XV in perspective. Like within the first few lines you already known all the backstory of game’s universe (which is refreshing for a franchise that has previously banked on convoluted plots). Another highlight has to be the VO’s. I admit I’m sucker for watching movies in their native language but the team seem to have taken care of the lip syncing and acting.

There also seems to be all sorts of references to previous FF games from those giants that look like the weapons from Final Fantasy VII to Ultros. Freaking Ultros, yo!

Kingsglaive is expected to launch digitally on August 30th. A Blu-Ray release will come out on October 4th, but those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition will get it earlier on September 30th.

Ana Joins the Fray as a Sniper Healer in Overwatch

The long rumored Overwatch character has been revealed as Ana: a sniper who also acts as support. Meaning her rifle also heals as well as deals damage. Interesting!

She will be voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo, a well known Iranian-American actress who voiced multiple video games including the Mass Effect series. One thing I do admire is the attention to detail. Playing as an old women sniper who happens to look this stylish is rare to see in video games, especially one as high prolific as Overwatch. No release date has been announced so far.

Be sure to check out her origin story here as well.

The First PS4 Game That Made Me Enjoy Couch CO-OP

The LEGO video game franchise has been widely successful and for good reason. They’re fun, friendly, and easy to play. Of course a big chunk of that is owed to the fact that their tied to major IPs, one of which is Star Wars. In fact LEGO Star Wars is where it all began and it’s only fitting that its newest title based on The Force Awakens is the strongest entry yet.

This of course is helped by couch co-op a feature we are barely seeing this generation. I mean I have a PlayStation 4 with 2 controllers and they’re mostly limited to fighting games. It’s refreshing to see a full-fledged adventure game take advantage of this feature.
